The Imperial Mountain Summer Resort is divided into four parts——the Palace Quarter、the Lake Area, the Plain Area and the Mountain Area. Lying on the south bank of the lake, the Palace Quarter, which has a smooth terrain and occupies an area of 100,000 square meters, is the place for emperors to dispose affairs of state, to hold celebrations and to live in. It is constituted by the Front Palace, the Pine Crane Temple, the Pine-Soughing Valleys and the Eastern Palace. On the south of the Palace Quarter lies the Lake Area, this occupies an area of 43 hectares including the islets. The lake surface is separated into areas of different size by 8 small islands with distinct gradation. Islets strew at random and the surface of the lake ripples, showing the characteristics of a land flowing with milk and honey——the south.
Touring route: since the Imperial Mountain Summer Resort is extensive in area, if you have only one-day time, the route as follows will show you a majority of the best parts in the mountain villa: Lizheng Gate-Inner Meridian Gate –Danbo Jingcheng Hall –Sizhi study-Hall of Refreshing Mist-House of Cloudy Mountains- Ferry for Picking up Waternuts - Ruyi Lake Pavilion - Yanyu Tower – Canglangyu Islet-Changhu Lake -Chamber of Literature Taste-Rehe Spring-Jinshan Ting-Lake Center Pavilions-Relic of Eastern Palace-Dehui Gate.
Day 2 Beijing——Chengde
After breakfast, we’ll visit Puning Temple and Puyou Temple (80RMB). Puning Temple, commonly referred to as Big Buddha Temple，is the biggest and most important site for Tibetan Buddhism in north China. The world’s largest wooden figure of Buddha——avalokiteshvara of 1000 hands and 1000 eyes is enshrined and worshiped in it. There are Buddhist ceremonies on every calends and fifteenth, and there are eminent monk hold the consecration ceremony of Avalokitesvara for guests. This is the Buddhism place in Changde which attracts a large number of pilgrims; then we’ll visit the yeshiva of Outer Eight Temples——Puyou Temple, which was built in Qianlong 25 years (1760). This place is not only a yeshiva for lamas to study the Buddhism sutras and theories, but also an important place for religious activities. Then we’ll go visiting Putuo Zongcheng temple, Panchen Lama’s temporary dwelling palace (cost 80RMB). Putuo Zongcheng temple, in the light of the Potala Palace of Lhasa, Tibet, is known as” the little Potala Palace”. The magnificent magnificence of the whole architectural complex makes you feel like you are in Tibet, observing the resplendent and magnificent golden roof of the Wanfaguiyi Hall. After that, we’ll visit the Xumi Fushou Temple, also called Panchen palace, which was built in Qianlong 45 years (1780). It’s built for Panchen VI to live in following the Tibet Xigaze Tashilhunpo on Qianlong emperor’s 70th birthday. Then we return home after lunch and finish our happy journey.

Dam grassland, lying on the north of Beijing, in the Manchu autonomous county——Fengning, Hebei, is a natural grassland nearest to Beijing, with an alternate name——Primary Grassland in the North of Beijing. Dam grassland is an important part of dam plateau and a portion of Inner Mongolia grassland. The average elevation is 1400-1600 meters. The summer here is cool and comfortable. The Zhongdu grassland with perfect ecosystem is the quintessence part of Xilinguole grassland, a natural landscape against the blue sky and white clouds, with a carpet of green grass and dense trees. It takes an area of about 350 square kilometers and is a natural summer resort and a great place for tourism. In here, water is clear, green grass tall as your shoulders, Mongolian gazelle clustering and the environment is excellent. This place is called”Hailiutu” in Mongol, meaning a place with water and grassland. The sky above the dam is high and the weather fine; the grass looks like a carpet, with sheep strolling like cloud, horses galloping ahead. The mountains around the dam are like clusters, blue water flows murmuring; in the hitting area of the dam are dense trees and land delicacies everywhere; climb onto the dam, you’ll immediately feel comfortably cool. Sheets of birches wear snow-white, and the flecky shadows penetrate the folds of branches and leaves. The beautiful Lightning River surrounds like a jade belt, flowing past you softly. Cattle, horses, and sheep foraging in group, grazier’s straightforward sound and silvery whip sound, mixed with beautiful bird call, all of which add infinite vitality to the earthy grassland.
The summer here is cool and comfortable. Gorgeous wild flowers stretch from the dam rim , some of which shine like golden stars and are as fine as the red hairpin. The flower colors vary in different seasons, and the gradation is distinct between day and night.
At night, it’s a romantic place for lovers, with bright in the sky and campfire on the ground; you may go and talk as much as you like with tourists who are always on the move, dance and sing around the campfire; also you may sit alone on the grassland, enjoying the wonderfulness of staying alone.
Day 2 Dam grassland——Beijing
In the morning, you may step on the soft and natural carpet of grass, listening to the clear and melodious singing of the birds; you may also go to appreciate the sunrise on the grassland. A red sun rises up slowly, turning the clear and translucent dewdrops on the greenery into twinkling pearls; various kinds of plants turn green in a flash; horses, cattle and sheep also start strolling on the extensive grassland.
