Professional background:
I am a professional historian and anthropologist with an international orientation and a deep interest in intercultural communication. I have stayed and worked in a range of different countries and have been living in Turkey since 2009. I am currently teaching Humanities at a private university in Istanbul and at the same time I am enrolled in an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program at a British University. I have several years of experience in academic writing and editing.

Translation history:
I started doing translations as a volunteer in 2001 during an internship at the Red Crescent Society Kyrgyzstan, translating documents from Russian into English. My own academic work partly consists in translating historical and other sources from Russian, French and German to English as the target language. This year I started working as a professional translator for an Istanbul-based translation agency (Turkish to German), as a translator/editor and instructor of German for Language Direct and as German editor for mymerhaba, the leading website for foreigners in Turkey.

My language skills:
Over the years, language learning has become a kind of addiction for me. I fluently speak German (native), English (near to native), French, Modern Greek, Russian and Turkish, and have also taken lessons in Albanian corresponding to 3 years of study.

Why you should consider me as a translator:
My academic work has taught me to be extremely precise and careful about meaning and tone of a text. My specialty is the field of Humanities. I take a broad interest in philosophy, social sciences, cultural topics, politics and environmental issues. Due to my intimate knowledge of these fields, I believe to easily outcompete those translators with a more classical formation.
