Source text - Dutch In een markt die gedomineerd wordt door gepolyvinyliseerd glasvezeldoek, brengt XXX een hightech alternatief: XXX. W. H. ziet XXX als een stuk evolutie op screengebied: "XXX is een echte upgrade voor de screenmarkt. Het grote voordeel van XXX is dat dit doek zowel binnen als buiten is toe te passen. Dé reden waarom het doek architectonisch wordt ingezet, is de absentie van pvc in het weefsel. Bij binnengebruik scheidt het doek geen giftige dampen af."
XXX wordt gemaakt uit polyester, milieutechnisch gezien een verantwoorde keuze. Dat XXX niet onder doet voor gepolyvinyliseerd glasvezeldoek, wordt bewezen door de uitmuntende eigenschappen: XXX is weerbestendig, biedt een maximale uv-bescherming met behoudt van een goed doorzicht en is elegant dun. De vormvastheid van het doek is ongekend: geen rek of krimp en bij dubbelvouwen plooit het doek weer terug in de originele staat, zonder zichtbare effecten.

XXX è un prodotto in poliestere, una scelta consapevole dal punto di vista ambientale. Le sue eccezionali proprietà eguagliano i teli in PVC rinforzati con fibra di vetro: il XXX è impermeabile, offre la massima protezione dai raggi UV ma al contempo una buona trasparenza ed è elegantemente sottile. L’indeformabilità di questo tessuto è senza precedenti: non si deforma né si restringe e, se piegato due volte, torna al suo stato iniziale senza lasciare tracce visibili.

Source text - English For Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Christian Dior, fashion is about the world stage rather than the catwalk. A few hours after taking a bow at the end of her Paris haute couture show, she was on stage again to be presented with the Légion d’honneur, France’s highest honour.
The award, presented by the French equality secretary, Marlène Schiappa, is a recognition of how the first woman to helm Dior has reinvigorated the venerable French institution by aligning it with feminism rather than femininity.
“I am very emotional,” said Chiuri. “I never thought, working in fashion, I would be given this. And as an Italian in France – the country of fashion, the culture of fashion – it is such an honour.”
The award is a vindication of Chiuri’s refusal to stay in her lane as a fashion designer. Her Dior is less about hemlines than it is about female empowerment and the distinction between cultural appropriation and cultural exchange.
The quote-emblazoned looks with which she has opened most of her Dior collections have transformed the slogan T-shirt, traditionally fashion at its most inane, into something more thoughtful, quoting Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (We Should All be Feminists) and the late Linda Nochlin, an American art historian (Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?).
This latest haute couture collection opened with a toga sloganned with “Are Clothes Modern?” the title of an exhibition which the architect Bernard Rudofsky presented at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan in 1944, just three years before Christian Dior himself invented the New Look.

Poche ore dopo l’inchino al termine della sua sfilata di alta moda a Parigi, era nuovamente sul palco per essere insignita della Legion d’Onore, la più alta onorificenza francese.
Conferitole dalla Ministra delle Pari Opportunità francese Marlène Schiappa, questo riconoscimento rende onore al modo in cui la prima donna al vertice di Dior ha dato nuovo vigore a una istituzione francese rendendola più in linea con il femminismo che con la femminilità.
“Sono molto emozionata,” ha detto Chiuri. “Lavorando nel campo della moda, non ho mai pensato che mi sarebbe stata consegnata questa onorificenza. E in qualità di italiana in Francia – il Paese e la cultura della moda – è un grande onore.”
Questo premio è la conferma definitiva del rifiuto di Chiuri di limitarsi a stare al suo posto di stilista. La sua visione di Dior ha meno a che fare con gli orli e molto di più con l’emancipazione femminile e con la distinzione tra appropriazione culturale e scambio culturale.

I hold a BA
and an MA in Modern Languages and Literatures, both from the University
of Torino (Italy). I then moved to the UK, where I obtained a PhD in Italian
studies focused on Translation Studies and Gender Studies. In my thesis I
adopted a methodology based on Descriptive Translation Studies to analyse the
influence played by translation on the spread of American feminist ideas in
Italy. You can find part of my research in the edited volume Feminist
Translation Studies: Local and Transnational Perspectives, published by
Routledge in 2017 and edited by Olga Castro and Emek Ergun.
My PhD gave me the
opportunity to get an extensive knowledge of translation theory, which is
essential in my work as a translator. My experience in the field of translation
is not just theoretical as I have also been collaborating with several
translation agencies and companies. My strengths are an excellent theoretical
background, good work experience and the knowledge of foreign
cultures. My areas
