My full name is Mafunda Lucia Ndongala, but everyone has always called me Lucia. I am a native Italian speaker born and raised in Italy by Congolese parents. I am bilingual in Italian and Lingala.
I am based in Manchester since 2003.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Translating for International Business (EFL & Italian) with Merit and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Translation & Interpreting Studies (EFL & Italian), as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice to teach in Higher Education (PGCAP) from the University of Salford.
Since September 2012, I have been working as an Hourly-Paid Tutor in Italian, Translation and Interpreting and as Residence Abroad Tutor for Italian at the University of Salford.
As a professional I primarily interpret face to face (Italian, Lingala and French into English) for:
- Medical Primary Care (hospitals, clinics, GP and Dental practices)
- Offender Management Service
- Mental Health Care (Clinics and hospitals)
- Local Government (Social Work)
