Italian to English: Manager en Route. Street Catering in Bonanjo (Douala, Cameroon) General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Anthropology
Source text - Italian The emic point of view was able to highlight a great range of meanings entailed upon street catering by various interpretive paradigms, combined with an array of denominations and a typological classification that differ on several grounds, depending on the endogenous interpretive sources. Our research frame has pointed out that the street catering forms are not limited to the sole features of fixedness and mobility; the two could rather be considered as outermost extremes of a main, useful and functional distinction in a two-fold time-space dimension. On the field, in fact, I was able to notice an array of intermediate forms which break down the rigidity of the primary distinction and translate it into a continuum of models. This should allow us to proceed with the research on the “stationary-type trade forms” in Bonanjo and to confront them with the ones located in low-cost housing districts.
