Smart, detail oriented and culturally savvy translator with over a decade of experience in intercultural and translingual communication. I hold a B.A. in Japanese from the Ohio State University, which I was granted with honors and distinction for the completion of my thesis, a translation of a novella by the author Haniya Yutaka. (I also graduated with a second B.A., with honors, in International Relations.) I spent my final year of high school studying at a senior high school in Saitama and completed one year of course work at Waseda University while in college, experiences which have secured me a firm understanding of Japanese culture and of a variety of modes of communication in spoken and written Japanese. In addition to my freelance and literary translation work, I have worked as a copywriter and copyeditor for a green startup in Portland, Oregon, where I edited and contributed to ad copy, company newsletters, customer correspondence and press releases, honing a command of both formal and informal business communication. But I'm just as confident in my ability to talk/write/translate about coffee, bicycles, microbrews, BOOKS, film, design... And I’m excited to make use of all of my skills and knowledge as part of the Proz.com community.

聡明で、詳細を記述することにこだわりをもち、文化の機微に敏感な翻訳者。文化間、そしてさまざまな言語間のコミュニケーションに10年以上たずさわってきた。オハイオ州立大学より日本語の学士号を取得し、埴谷雄高の小説を翻訳した学士論文によって特別優等で卒業した。（私はまた、二番目の学士号を国際関係論で取得している。）高校の最終学年は埼玉の高校で過ごし、大学時代は一年間を早稲田大学でコースワークに従事しながら過ごした。この経験は私にとって、日本文化、あるいは日本語の書きことば・話しことばに内在するさまざまなモードを理解するための確固たる助けとなった。フリーランスと小説の翻訳という仕事にくわえ、私はオレゴン州ポートランドにてグリーン・スタートアップのコピーライター、そして編集者として働いてきた。そこでは広告のキャッチコピー、会社の発行するニューズレター、顧客通信、そしてプレスリリースの原稿を作成／編集し、フォーマル／インフォーマルなビジネス言語を磨いてきた。とはいえ、私はコーヒーについて記述したり、自転車、地ビール、本、映画、デザインなどについて執筆したりすることにも同様の自信をもっているという点を付け加えておきたい。Proz.comのコミュニティーの一員としてその能力と知識を活用することを楽しみに。
