Source text - English The basic principle underlying all efforts to reduce excess fat is reverse the imbalance in the body that is created when the energy expenditure is less than the energy generation. One of the most important remedial measures in this direction is dieting sensibly and effectively.
There are certain characteristics that make a weight reduction diet successful and practical. The diet should.
(a) Offer a wide variety of foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, low-fat or non-fat dairy products, and lean meat,chicken, fish or dried beans and peas.
(b) Be nutritionally balanced and provide a minimum of 1200 calories, unless directed and supervised by a physician.
(c) Include regular meals, at least three to six meals a day.
(d) Include snacks.
(e) Be based on personal food preferences that fall in the 'allowed' foods.
(f) Promote long-term habit change.
Sometimes, people don't look fat, yet are overweight. Excess weight can creep on insidiously with the passing years and can become a threat to your health. So one can be overweight without releasing it.
