Si les objectifs fixés – trouver de l’eau à 110° C avec un débit de 40 litres par seconde – ne sont pas atteints, le forage sera prolongé jusqu’à 3000 mètres de profondeur. La chaleur de l’eau souterraine augmente en moyenne de 3° C par 100 mètres dans des contextes géologiques standards. Plus on va profond, plus la roche et l’eau qui circule à son contact sont chaudes.
Translation - German In der ersten Phase wird bis zu einer Tiefe von 2300 Metern in das Gestein gebohrt. Falls damit das gesetzte Ziel, 110 °C heisses Wasser mit einer Ergiebigkeit von 40 Litern pro Sekunde zu finden, nicht erreicht werden kann, wird die Bohrung bis zu 3000 Meter Tiefe weitergeführt. Unter geologischen Standardbedingungen steigt die Tiefenwassertemperatur im Durchschnitt um 3 °C pro 100 Meter. Mit zunehmender Tiefe werden Felsgestein und das Wasser, welches mit dem Gestein in Berührung kommt, immer heisser.
