Alla rappresentazione reticolare si preferisce quella del diagramma di Gantt che consiste nella rappresentazione grafica basata su due assi ortogonali. Lungo l'asse verticale sono elencate tutte le attività nelle quali è stato scomposta la commessa, mentre sull'asse orizzontale compare la variabile temporale, espressa nell'unità di misura prescelta. Ciascuna attività viene rappresentata mediante una barra orizzontale il cui posizionamento è determinato dalla data di inizio prevista, e la cui lunghezza rappresenta la durata stimata in sede previsionale.
Rispetto alla rappresentazione reticolare, il diagramma di Gantt offre una visione anche temporale del progetto, calendarizzandone le attività lungo l'intero arco temporale previsto per il suo completamento.

The Gantt Chart, that consists in a graphical representation based on two orthogonal axes, is preferable to the framework display. Vertical axis lists all the activities that make up the project, while the horizontal one shows the time variable, expressed in the chosen unit of measurement. Every activity is represented by a horizontal bar, whose position is given by the scheduled starting date and whose length represents the duration estimated at the scheduling stage.
Compared with the framework chart, the Gantt Chart also offers an overview of the project timeline, by scheduling its project activities throughout the time span expected for its completion.
