In daily life I'm the mother of several (pre)-teenagers, "lady & mistress" of a household consisting of 4 cats, 2 dogs, 1 hand raised vole and 1 partner, where the emphasis lies on organic food, wholesome living and respect for (almost) every living & breathing organism. Our house is slowly but surely transforming into a self sustaining energy system which already relies on wood and coals for warmth (generated by a large masonry oven and several smaller antique cast iron stoves) and rain water for flushing toilets and such.

My alter ego is a linguistic gymnast who daily juggles three languages (Frisian, Dutch and English) and additionally doesn't come across as a stuttering idiot when conversing in two other languages (French and German). I have several decades of experience translating divers subjects ranging from newspaper articles and trade documents to full length novels (i.e. part 1 of The Bridei Chronicles, [i]The Dark Mirror[/i] by Juliet Marillier) and manuals for household appliances to the add campaign for Curacao Blue by Lucas Bols.
