I am bilingual in French and English, and was educated in both as I grew up traveling and living worldwide. My M.A. and B.A. are in languages and literature, and I did a great deal of literary and oral translation. I studied Farsi (5 yrs), Pashto (5 yrs), Arabic (2yrs), and Urdu (2yrs) at the Institut National des Langues Orientales in Paris, and wrote my M.A. thesis at the univerity of Paris III, a translation and analysis of Pashtun folk tales. I then lived in rural Afghanistan and Pakistan over 10 years conducting fieldwork among Pashtuns which has generated a PhD (Univ of Pennsylvania) and three books (academic and fiction). I taught both French and Pashto at university level for ten years. I have translated and interpreted as a government contractor since 2005. I have designed digital assessment and training materials for Pashto, and have taught university level language programs in both Pashto and French.
