Bio
My name is Paulina LaScola, I am a translator. I have been privileged enough to begin my career in my homeland of Poland, and watch it grow with me in the United States. I graduated from a Polish university in 2005. I have an M.A. degree in Linguistics -The Department of English Philology at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan, Poland. The university I attended prides itself to have the best English department in Poland. Complementing my master's degree, I have completed one year of post graduate translation studies in Wroclaw, Poland. The course focused solely on translation including the following subjects: legal translation, sworn translation, medical, technical and business translation, plus classes on Polish grammar. I do believe that this course has provided me with a great deal of vocabulary knowledge as well as the knowledge about how the translation business works, and the rules a translator is required to know and follow.

After graduating, I worked as a private tutor of English and a freelance translator in Poland; completing numerous translation projects for individuals. This included translating general texts either from Polish into English or from English into Polish. In 2006 I moved to the United States and started working as an interpreter for The International Bank of Languages in Providence, Rhode Island. I interpreted mainly in the medical field for various hospitals between Polish speaking patients and English speaking doctors. It was an interesting experience and I found this kind of work very rewarding. In 2007 I moved to San Diego, CA, and was hired by Language Line as a consecutive interpreter. Currently, I work full time interpreting Polish-English conversations taking place in many different fields and I absolutely love what I do.

Working with language is my passion and my biggest dream has always been working for the translating industry. I would love to learn more about it and would be happy to start working as an intern at first in order to gain the necessary practice in the field. I would like to focus my career on film translation and interpreting as this is something I truly enjoy doing.
