Hi Proz,
I wonder if it's possible to change an existing Trados TM source language from UK English to US English or vice versa?
I think it would be great if it was possible to have just one generic English source language TM, so I could combine material from different English TMs, but now it seems that I cannot because some of the TMs were created in one or the other variant of English.

Hello,
you can export the tm, create a new one with the other source language and import the export file. Trados does not have a problem with import the other source language.

You'll have to create a new TM with the appropriate language codes to reimport the file into Trados.
You can also do this to a .txt version of the TM with a Search and Replace routine in WordPad or another text editor.

I tried this but Trados does not seem to import the other English variant TMs but reports the TUs as invalid.

What a nifty wee tool that Olifant is! It did the trick in two tics. And now I can make the most of my English TMs. Very helpful indeed!
