Yes, because income from translation is not a stable income(complementary) I also work as a medical doctor.

I have another income but it's a pension from a full-time translating job.

I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) part-time at a local university. However, I'm taking a break from that at least until October.

Not really, not nowadays. I used to teach TEFL so I could go back to that. There are other things I could do to earn a crust as well, if translation wasn't working out.

I answered No Aug 6, 2014

But in fact I rent a small flat that I own.
I didn't think about it as it is a small source of income compared to translation (and correlated editing, QC and what-not).

Like Jack and Teresa Aug 6, 2014

I have a pension and Social Security from working as a full-time translator. More than half my income comes from my freelance work.

I also receive royalties from my recently published memoir, Finding My Invincible Summer, but they're not much to write home about.

Yeah! Aug 6, 2014

I edit and proofread both English and Tamil texts. I do indexing. I check the accuracy, consistency, and aptness of translations by others.

Yes and No Aug 6, 2014

I answered No as I am a full-time translator and translation amounts to 99% of my income. However, my husband also works and it takes our combined income to run a household.

I can hardly count the small amounts I get from my literary writing as "income" yet - it's more in the realm of "encouragement".

In my case, I could certainly "support myself" with my translation income, but I wouldn't be able to afford to live where I live, nor have the lifestyle I have. It takes two to tango (and pay for a bunch of extras)
