My bookkeeping is pretty simple, but I do wish I'd manage to keep up once-a-month instead of facing the annual tax-return scramble! It may seem a silly priority, but I'm aiming for a less stressful working experience and this will help me 100%!

Elina Sellgren wrote: I aim to: - create a website - look for new clients (raising rates in the process & to be able to ditch one big client) - plan my taxes better and understand accounting better. Well, Elina, you're in good company. Many translators have built their own websites. There's nothing like Wordpress (www.wordpress.org) however, because there are tons of free (and paid) templates for all tastes, as well as plug-ins to achieve what you need, such as photo sliders. If you feel up to writing up your own content, that's the best choice because no one else will know what you are and what you want to do, not even graphic designers, web designers or other translators. In that regard, strive to being unique and offer a difference above your competitors. Make your website brief but useful, easy to update and to find. Unless you plan on selling t-shirts or books or bottles or marmalade, avoid gimmicks like Google Ads or marketing schemes to place your website on multiple search engines (that's so 1990s!). If you have a LinkedIn profile, you may link it to your website. Good luck!

I have a friend who has been working as a QA tester for Sega there in Spain and he hates it. I'm expecting a to see a lot more video game translations this year. With the Steam Machine, Ouya, and all these smartphones coming out; I can finally get away from Blizzard! Oh, my main priority is to make lots of money without going to jail for it.
