Hello, I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and OmegaT 2.3.0. So far, I don't have any problems, I just can't activate the spell-checking. Every time I click "Install" under "Options" and "Spell-checking", I get the following error: java.net.UnknownHostExeption:ftp.services.openoffice.org Can anybody tell me what it means? Thanks a lot! | | | esperantisto Local time: 11:18 Member (2006) English to Russian + ... SITE LOCALIZER

There is a list here: http://www.omegat.org/en/howtos/spelling.html However, the default server works fine here. It might be a connectivity issue for Java software. To check this, you would have to find another Java software that connects to the Internet. As a workaround (for spell checking), you might simply use local dictionaries, which you can get either from LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org installations, or simply by downloading them manually from the URLs mentioned above. I have several local dictionaries, and they all run well with other programs. But how can I use them with OmegaT? I choose the folder under "Options"; "Spellchecking" and press "OK", but the wrong words are still not marked. | |

What kind of dictionaries do you have? For OmegaT, you’ll need dictionaries in the Hunspell format. Also, you must make sure that the file names match your target locale. I. e., for DE_DE (German of Germany) the files must be de_DE.dic and de_DE.aff. | | | Egmont S (X) Germany Local time: 10:18 Chinese to German + ... I use dictionaries in the Hunspell format, and the file names also match the target locale. And it still doesn't work. Any other suggestions? Egmont, since you have Linux, you should use system dictionaries. Go to synaptic/aptitude/software center/whatever you use to install packages on your system, install hunspell-yourlanguage, then find out where those .dic and .aff files have been installed (in synaptic you right click on that hunspell package and find it there), then in OmegaT, set "Dictionary file folder" to that folder. It seems the Bulgarian dictionary from the various mirrors is not complete. If you look at what is downloaded, you will see that there is a bg_BG.dic, but no corresponding bg_BG.aff. Of course, this cannot work. If you know a working Open/LibreOffice (.oxt) extension with the Bulgarian dictionary, download it, rename it to .zip, extract the .dic and .aff from it, and copy the files to the folder mentioned in Options > Spell Checking.
