I was wondering if any of you has ever heard of this payment method/system. Actually I don't know what it is because I looked for it online but failed to find an official website. The only information I could get was this:

Here's the situation. I found a place to rent, sent an email and got a reply from the owner, who lived in Argentina but has gone back to London. He expects me to send the money overseas via Key Global Courier but I fear it might be a scam.
Does anyone use Key Global Courier or a Courier Service to get paid for their translation services? Any input would be highly appreciated and I am thanking you in advance. ▲ Collapse

Hola Oscar. Estoy en el proceso de comunicación con el supuesto dueño del departamento, tambien me pide que le deposite dinero, y una vez hecho el deposito, me envian las llaves para ver el mismo. Tengo miedo de ser estafado, por eso le solicite me envie una direccion de esta empresa para ir personalmente y en compania de ellos, visitar el dpto. Veremos que me responde. Busco y busco, y no encuentro ninguna oficna en Argentina de la Global Key Courier.

That old 'rent an apartment but I'm out of the country' scam has been going around for years.
Did you try researching the address in the UK or phoning them? It might be an accomplaice, but if there is an error, it would tell you right away. On the face of it, without checking, the address does look plausible.

There are lots of scams around of this type. As soon as I hear "I am in London" when I try to rent a flat in any place other than London, my alarm bells start ringing, especially if the flat in question is unusually beautiful/good value for money.
I would first of all do an IP address search to see where this person is emailing me from. If emailing from anywhere else but London, immediately stop contact with this person.

From what is available on the net, they can, for example, bring you a sofa bought somewhere, etc. Or help you moving to another place. Or something like this. I am not sure, however, why should you transfer any money via them, this is clearly NOT their business.

Indeed, this landlord should have someone to take care of his property. Furthermore,
there should be a bank account in Argentina to accomodate (so to speak) all rent payments from all other tenants, unless you are the only one.
You might want to do some research to see if such a person really exists and who is in charge of his property during his (perhaps prolonged?) absence. After all, when he rents the apartment to you or anyone else, someone should be there to sign the contract, someone you can hand over the list of deficiencies, etc.
Better stay safe than without your money and a home.

Hola chicos, yo tambien soy de argentina y casualmente ayer me contacte con un hombre de nombre Walker Thomas" y me indicó lo mismo sobre este proceso. Estaremos hablando de la misma persona/estafa??

On a first note, I got an email from the "so-called Thomas Walker" and he sent me some pictures, which I fear, might have been stolen. He also sent me a picture of his "Police Licence" which states, I quote: " I certify that Thomas Walker P0933 holds the rank of Detective Constable in London Police". I haven't seen any constable's licence but this looks really weird.

I wish I could know how to trace someone's IP but I don't. I am not judging the company, which may be a legal and law-abiding one but this person (or someon with a fake identity) is using it for the wrong purposes.
I am not going to rent this place and for everyone out there, be careful with a person! Furthermore, this person who is allegedly English prefers to speak in Spanish through a machine translator. When I told him I could communicate in English, he said he'd still prefer to use Spanish. To top if all off, he sent me a contract in Spanish full of grammatical mistakes.
My first post was about anyone using Key Courier Global to get paid for a translation but the root of the problem was way deeper.

I most tell you that there is many coincidences: 1. I´m talking with the same "Thomas Walker". 2. He sent an email with his police License. 3. After trying to bargain, I sent an email to this person stating that I was not interested in renting the apartment and s/he wrote back offering a month lease at $1100 when the original price was $1400. Now, there's no doubt about it.

No puedo creer que casi me la morfo... Llegué al punto donde el tipo me mandó el contrato y ahí me sonaron todas las alarmas juntas... que capo Oscar que escribiste esto. Y menos mal que hice la busqueda por google... que paja porque pensé que la búsqueda del depa concluyó finalmente.

Justo esta semana encontré un departamento en México que era demasiado bueno para ser verdad, y sí, el propietario es: Walter Thomas, que es policía y vive en Inglaterra, ama a los perros y a su familia, me envió fotos y me aseguró que en 6 días tendría el departamento, ¡hasta podría vivir ahí 3 días de prueba!. También me pidió datos para el contrato y poder hacer un pago a la empresa, renta y depósito, a Global Key Courier. Buscando la dichosa empresa llegué con ustedes y mis m... No existe la empresa, la supuesta dirección es una página tipo blog, no una página formal.
El anuncio del departamento ha desaparecido de donde lo encontré.
Incluso ingresé a su cuenta de Facebook que él mismo me proporcionó, donde no tiene absolutamente nada (obvio no lo agregué como amigo).
Si tienen más dudas esto puede aclararlas: pidan copia de las escrituras, comprueben el nombre, vayan a la dependencia correspondiente en su país para verificar que los datos sean legítimos. O simplemente pidan la dirección y vayan directo al lugar, sin cita, no avisen y pregunten a los vecinos.
Porfa, avisen qué ha sucedido, estamos juntos en esto, por mi parte si recibo más información me contactaré por este medio.
