Hello, I just received an e-mail from a translation company I work with, and they claim Across is now illegal and they cannot work with translators who use this CAT tool. I did some googling but was unable to find any relevant information. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks for your input.

Sounds odd

If I were in your shoes, I would do two things first:
a) Contact the agency the email came from to verify that they did indeed send it. Theoretically it could be an impersonation for whatever reason, someone with a grudge, etc. If they did send it, it's perfectly legitimate to ask why they think Across is "illegal". Maybe they have created their own CAT tool... who knows?
b) Contact Across and find out what you can about this matter.

I don't work with Across, but this seems a bit strange, especially since no really convincing reason was provided. ▲ Collapse

Across Language Service illegal?

Never in a million years. At every seminar you are invited to visit the company in Kalsruhe. Everything is pretty transparent.

CAP assignment method

Can the change in 'CAP assignment method' be a reason perhaps? I.e. that CAP is strictly bound with the same PC? Regards Maciej

Perhaps they just mean "unacceptable" or "non grata" (i.e. for some reason the agency no longer wants to use Across). Not everyone uses the lingo correctly.
