Hi Anne

I've been a Proz member for several years and have quoted for a large number of jobs. Despite having tried every imaginable variation of wording etc. I've never, ever, had a response of any kind other than "your quote has been received".

Why doesn't that surprise me?

It doesn't surprise me. Your rates are probably much lower than anyone else's and that's how you win the bids.. But don't worry - I have all the work I need

I actually see that too : all postings are in my mailbox around 12:00 midnight or 02:00 and in a batch of 3-4 at the same time (impossible, because clients do not post around this time and not one after another...!!!

There must be something wrong on Proz side!

Hello Ed, hello Anne,

Thanks for posting.

If you are noticing that job notifications are arriving in your inbox with a significant delay, then I would encourage you to submit a support request with one or two URLs of such job postings. That way, we will be better able to diagnose why exactly you may be receiving those notifications later than you should.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Maria

While I applaud the advice of Maria, I must say that I find it rather surprising that this short blurp, in which a problem is highlighted that affect many paying members, does not appear to spark off a flurry of proactive action from the Proz support department. Perhaps I read too much in things and most likely I only see a fraction of what happens behind the screens, but asking a support ticket for an apparent Proz problem that is already highlighted in a Proz discussion seems a bit of overkill to me...

The reason why it is recommended that technical issues with email notifications are reported via the support center is to avoid publicly discussing, for example, members' email addresses in the forums, in line with ProZ.com's privacy policy.

Thanks for your understanding.

Bidding mechanism Nov 27, 2012

Yes. Proz quotes can be effective among novices since translation business runs competitively in cyberspace. That is, bidding mechanism makes bidders become weaker and stronger job outsourcing agencies.
