It's what I call an "office chair". Black, adjustable height and backrest, swivel type and sits in front of my PC. Most of these nowadays claim to be somehow "ergonomic", which I take with a substantial pinch of salt. My previous one has rollers, and I now use it to trundle, dalek fashion, between TV and fireplace of an evening.
I heard good things about "Hara" chairs, but they were a tad too expensive for me when I looked and my current, reasonably economical chair seems to do it... Could the staff member who started this poll please explain the terms used?
By a "traditional" chair, do you mean a swivel-seat chair of the type usually known as a typist's chair, or just any old general purpose chair you may have around the house?
An "ergonomic" chair is presumably one advertised as such, but other good chairs may be just as ergonomic without bosting about it.

Seems a fairly specific "type of chair" to be mentioned on a website where half the members seem to regularly complain about being unable to afford much more useful items costing under half that, but what do I know?
To balance things out, mine is a bog standard office chair (swivels, rolls, and keeps my arse off the floor, the latter being the prime function of a chair AFAIAC) I got from Ikea ages ago for about 80 notes, IIRC.

Agree with Charlie. Swopper??? Swap my chair for one of these maybe. Good day to all, most translators are heroes to keep going on such low pays as regularly offered. Yesterday I noticed in the ProZ job posting that indicating the Rate (implying the LOWEST possible one) was essential in the selection of candidates. Quality & Respect first please. I know... I am digressing.

I too am puzzled by the chair names used in this poll. I know I can look them up, but I am clearly not alone in never having heard of most of them.
The definition of 'ergonomic' is often down to manufacturer's claims. The ergonomics of any particular chair often depend on the way you set it up, such as the height of the the seat above the ground so that your feet are flat on the floor, the angle of your arms in relation to the keyboard, and the angle of sight in relation to your scr... So any adjustable office chair can be adapted to a good ergonomic position.
I used to use a kneeling chair which is supposed to stop you slumping over your keyboard, but I still managed to slump. And it hurt my knees! ▲ Collapse

I replied ergonomic because I have one of those chairs/stools that you sit/kneel on (sometimes referred to as a back chair).
They can cost a lot of money - but I got mine in the local charity shop for £10.

I also use a kneeling chair. From time to time, however, I move to a sofa and work lying down with lots of pillows under my back and neck.
