Summer peak Oct 31, 2011

Apparently most translators answered that their slowest months are July and August, when I personally experience a peak (I usually prefer to go on holiday in June).

Agree with Cristina Oct 31, 2011

I am usually very busy in the summer. Last year September was slow, this year October has been slow. I guess it depends on the market you specialize in.

But it varies.
Two or 3 years ago, the start of the year was really slow for everybody I know. In my area things tend to get off to a slow start as the Xmas holiday hangover last until about mid-January anyway.

Summers can be slow too unless I actively seek work.

Not much difference Oct 31, 2011

II voted that it didn't make any difference, but I do think January tends to be a little bit slower.

Different clients have different deadlines, and I have a wide range of clients, so there's usually something going on all the time. However, things do seem a little slower in January. I think it takes people time to crank up again after the holidays.

This year and the one before... Oct 31, 2011

every month was the same. I simply almost didn't get any work.

No real difference Oct 31, 2011

as my clients are based all over the world and where I get less work from one, more comes from another. Athough July this year was the quietest since the past 7 years because of all the bank holidays

No real difference Oct 31, 2011

In August, large chunks of the Italian market shut down for the holidays, but customers often get more projects than usual off their collective chest in the first half of the month and then in early September (although August has been very good for me, this year). Christmas/New year tends to be quieter, for similar reasons, but I tend not to work much then, anyway, so it doesn't affect my income.

August Oct 31, 2011

A lot of my clients are in Spain, a country that pretty much shuts down for the month of August. That month, not only does little work show up from Spain, but some of my Spanish clients don't pay July invoices till the first week in September.

january Oct 31, 2011

from about dec 21 to january 10, it's virtually dead with most people going on vacation.

The next big slow period is usually August, especially the first two weeks. It picks up the end of august.

Definitely December Oct 31, 2011

School year is over, people are busy running from one place to the other, Christmas and New Year's holidays, summer starts, people take free days, etc. so almost no work then.
