Hi fellow translators, Let's consider this as a personalized-invitation. I learned from my first contact with a Japan-based translator that China market (huge as it seems) is not as much interesting to him/her as it is to me. Some reasons I could think of; low rates, lower quality expectation (self-explanatory why rates are low), non-payers (personal experienced, not yet), and so on. Some reasons I could think of; low rates, lower quality expectation (self-explanatory why rates are low), non-payers (personal experienced, not yet), and so on. Whatever your stand is, I only wish to share my China experience with those who are interested. Does any of you know that we can use China mobile phone in Japan to take China's project? Well, needless to say this event is not meant to be exclusive, so English speaker, Chinese speaker, Japanese speaker (most of you do, I believe), or even Indonesian speaker are all welcome to the event. If in case any of you have no chat partner on the day, pls find me (fyi: my Nihongo level=N3). Last but not least, as I am a newcomer in Japan, I would need help from participant to give some suggestion which venue is appropriate for such casual meeting. Economical idea is good to show our solidarity with crisis going on in Fksm. Any other ideas/inputs are welcome. Remember, this event is all but from participant, by participant and for participant (put my interest aside). Sharing is caring...
-Cheers-

Hello Eddy-san,
As for ideal venues you were talking about, (if you're not yet sure at this moment), wherever an "izakaya" type of place closer to the main stations would be preferred by most attendants. That's where you can have a seat (or seats) over reasonale order of drink and foods. A possible problem is when more than 10 people or so will be coming to the event, as it can be often hard to find seat(s) available at most places for such a big group without advanced reservation. | | | Venue - an idea | Sep 3, 2011 |
I just happened to see this page. I just recently joined this society. Is this going to be what you call an "off-meeting," where you actually see each other? I think one of the appropriate places for such a casual meeting is Renoir's My Space. Renoir coffee shops are found at various places in Tokyo, and some of them have rental rooms for meetings, called "My Space." The fee is very reasonable. Please try that.
By the way, I am now sick with appendicitis. | |

Dear Kuwahara-san and Nakajima-san, My respect to locals and senior professional and thank you for the venue input. I should do my homework tomorrow when heading to Tokyo on personal matter. Will get back to you all very soon. And hope your appendicitis problem will be gone in time for the event Nakajima-san.

Hi, Unfortunately I have to go to Australia tomorrow night and will not return until next Monday. Will not be able to attend. Best regards, Tom | | | September 9, 4:00 pm would be ok, but it's Friday, couldn't it be shifted towards weekend? | Sep 7, 2011 |
Hello Eddy-san,
Thanks for announcement on the other way. I suppose I could attend on Sep. 9 4:00 pm, while I now realized it's Friday which should be regarded in some ones' (including myself) minds as a "working day". Couldn't it be shifted towards weekend? In any case, I myself would be ready to go on the set date.
As for the exact date/time and venue, I guess the earlier it's to be set, the better it gets for everybody to decide.

Hi all,
I'm really not sure if this round of Powwow is actualy to be held on Sep. 11, Sunday, 4:00 pm. Apparently, Eddy-san seems to have been taking time to arrange the exact date/time and venue for all of us to know the schedule at the earliest convenience. I would suggest to post a new Powwow to see some date of the coming weekends so that most of us could more comfortably arrange our schedules to attend the event.
