Hi everyone,

As I call my family and friends in Argentina a lot, I'm always looking for best phone rates and switch providers quite often.

I have just found two sites.

Hi everyone,

As I call my family and friends in Argentina a lot, I'm always looking for best phone rates and switch providers quite often.

I have just found two sites.
This one gives a comparison of all the residential rates in the UK: http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/residx.htm
(useful to find out what's best for you)

And this one offers the best rates I have found so far: http://www.call18866.co.uk/rates.php#

Please note that I have nothing to do with them !!!!
I've just registered and will see if it's actually true. 1ppm to Argentina is an excellent rate (cheapest up to now was ~6ppm through phone cards).

Hope you find them useful.
Cheers,
Grace.

Same from France... May 6, 2004

From France I use Telerabais, see
http://www.telerabais.com/tarifs.php.
Calls to fixed numbers in a lot of countries cost the local tariff. No registration is necessary; however, I think it does not work from phone boothes.

Perhaps others could add some further cheap telephone service providers worldwide?

Skype May 6, 2004

Have you tried Skype?

Both you and the person you want to tgalk to has to download this programme onto your computer, and you also need a speaker/microphone headset. Crystal clear sound and...it's free.

Telediscount May 6, 2004

My friends and I (all from Argentina) have been using Telediscount for a long time and it is brilliant. It charges you 1p per minute if you make a phone call to a landline and 10p per minute if you ring a mobile phone in Buenos Aires (I don't know about the rest of the country). No need to open an account or give your credit card details. www.telediscount.co.uk

computer to telephone May 7, 2004

I call Sweden a lot from here in Taiwan. I use http://www.dialpad.com, which allows me to call from my computer to a regular telephone at rates one-tenth the cost of a standard phone call. Since my family isn't very computer savvy, this is the perfect option for me. All I had to do was download their program and get myself a microphone. Since my family isn't very computer savvy, this is the perfect option for me. All I had to do was download their program and get myself a microphone. Although I probably wouldn't use this service for business calls, the quality is definitely good enough for personal calls, and has saved me lots of money. A service called net2phone.com offers the same thing, and I'm sure there must be other services as well.Collapse
