Sorry to hear the news! Apr 16, 2010

I am sorry to hear the news, guys.

So... slow payments, technical issues with CAT tools, low rates, urgent work, and now Icelandic volcanoes?

Perhaps a big banner on the homepage? Apr 16, 2010

Anne,
Wouldn't it be helpful to put a big sign up on the homepage about it? (The logged-in homepage.)

Cannot return to England ... :( Apr 17, 2010

Hi, there,

You have no idea how disappointed I am! (trust me, I'm not complaining about Proz, I was just really looking fwd to this).

I left Cairo on the 14th at night and arrived on Thursday morning in London. I gave myself one day cushion after and before the conference to make sure I arrived at the conference in time without rushing.

That was when the conference was supposed to start on Friday, but then Proz cancelled the Friday sessions. Fine, I took the chance to walk around London and sleep. But I hadn't seen any messages re: the conference being postponed.

I just spent over $700 alone on the ticket to London, and I cannot afford to do another trip here to wait for the next conference.

I'm in Bham, what can be done?????

Best to you,
Dahlia Ferrer

Icelandic revenge Apr 18, 2010

I am surprised not to have seen this thought expressed on the net yet, but I am sure that it will come up sooner or later:

Iceland, after having seen its banking system ruined by greedy Europeans, has conspired with higher powers to unleash an inferno of smoke and ashes over our continent with no end in sight - ruining the EU's economy in the process.
Quite a successful (and non-violent) revenge, isn't it ?

Good luck to all the people stranded in airports, and for those who are 'only' stuck in a foreign city: enjoy the forced holiday..

Sorry to hear that the event has been postponed Apr 19, 2010

We, as sponsors, are sorry to hear that this event has been postponed and hope that a new date will be fixed in the near future.

As consolation to those of you who should have attended, but couldn't, here is short listing of multilingual glossaries relating to volcano terminology:

when will it be rescheduled? Apr 20, 2010

Hi, I am still looking forward to having the conference rescheduled in Birmingham (or maybe it will be transferred to another place and another country?). Hopefully my UK visa is still valid, though.
