Can anyone assist please ... I installed Sudio 2009 and it worked yesterday. This morning the Trados seems still to work but the trados bar has dissapeared in word and Trados8.dot seems to have dissapeared from my computer too. I can't find it anywhere. Is this something to do with Vista upgrading automatically over night - can I stop this from happening again?
And how can I fix this now?

trados bar disappeared! Feb 10, 2010

Diane, it happens to me most of the times since I installed Studio 2009. The only solution I have found so far is search `Trados8.com´ with Windows, and click on it once I see it, and then it opens. I would really appreciate if anyone has another solution. I have not been able to solve this yet in another manner. Milagros

Thanks ... Feb 10, 2010

I'm not sure if its really reassuring that it happens all the time or not. But at least I'm not alone

I have tried what you suggested thank you - but I can't find 'Trados8' - anywhere on my computer even after searching everywhere and a few other places.

Does anyone know where I can download a new copy?

Move Trados8.dotm from teh default StartUp folder Feb 10, 2010

To aviod such problems in word you should move the Trados8.dotm template from the default startup folder of word to your documents.

Then on starting word you'll never see trados till you switch it on - going Customize QuickAccess Toolbar-More commands-Add-Ins-Templates and there showing the location of the file (in your documents) and switching it on - only when you wish to do so (normally it takes a lot of screen when only writing and not translating in word - so that can be benevo

In word 2003 the path is much simpler -in menu - tools-templates and add-ins and there appears the same screen for choosing and switching non-standard templates 9the name in word 2003 is trados8.dot).

If you cannot find the template on ypur hard drives try to look for the whole file name trados8.dotm, maybe with the Total Commander tool?

Otherwise you will have to repair the installation - after that do not forget to move the template.

Ok - tried to find it that way. There is no Trados8.dotm apparently (how can that be - I mean I didn't delete it, so why isn't it where it used to be - beyond my tecnnical understanding).

I'll try to repair the installation.

Thanks again!

DId repair but now Trados8.dot is back but with a big orange exlamation mark Feb 10, 2010

Now I repaired the program or I thought Idid and trados8.dot is back but trados8.dot has a great big orange exlamation mark. That can't be good.
And now trados wont run. Every time I try to open the application I get the message 'Trados Synergy has stopped working'.
What do I do now?
