I would appreciate the practical advice - is there a way to import xls-format glossary to wordfast?

I only did a few projects with it before which did not include the glossary - the current project does - and I do not find the way to import it to Wordfast.

Also direct mails possible [email protected].

1. Open the XLS file in Excel.
2. Delete everything except the source column, target column and optionally a comment column, in that order.
3. Select the source and target columns (and optionally the comment column).
4. Copy it.
5. Open Notepad.
6. Paste it in Notepad.
7. Save. Now you have a Wordfast glossary.

Save as tab-delimited text Dec 6, 2009

It also says so in the manual: 'The Excel spreadsheet should be saved as "Tab-delimited text" using Excel's File/Save as... menu.'
I had to use an Excel-glossary once and this worked like a charm (WF classic, 5.56j).
Good luck,
Marjolein

Thanks a lot - import successful -one question more... Dec 6, 2009

Million thanks to both of you, amazing! I imported the glossary successfully - both ways worked - now I am having the very basci and probably embarrassing question - how to do the glossary look up in Wordfast? I am able to find TM look up - does it cover both the TM and the glossary or can I have the glossary visible while translating?

Here's how it works Dec 6, 2009

First you'll have to select that specific txt-file as a glossary in WF (#1, #2 or #3 / under Tab 'Terminology'). Once that's done, you ought to see the terms that are in de glossary highlighted in your source segment. Select them by Ctrl + Alt + -> and paste them in your target segment by Ctrl + Alt + Down.
You can also check your glossaries by means of the Data Editor (in your WF Tool Bar): that way you can see the entries and scroll through them, edit them etc.
Hope this helps.
