I have often used this feature which found always a lot of double entries that were deleted then by reorganising the whole TM.

Now recently, I have merged two big memories. I had used for a while the one of them on my laptop and the other one on my desktop, but in substance, they contained the same stuff; I meant to delete afterwards the double entries and so get one up-to-date memory.

Now recently, I have merged two big memories. I had used for a while the one of them on my laptop and the other one on my desktop, but in substance, they contained the same stuff; I meant to delete afterwards the double entries and so get one up-to-date memory.

But, suprise, when the two were merged, it didn't find ANY double entry although beyond any doubt, there are hundreds of them, of course!! The result is, I now have a huge memory and don't know how I can get rid of all those redundant entries. I have played around with the settings of TM rules but of no avail! I don't quite understand why formerly it used to work and now it doesn't any more.

Is there any chance to get this done, even by another tool? Any advice would be highly appreciated. I have versions 4.22 and 5.0.

Thank you very much in advance!

Is it possible you are not actually using the filter function? Feb 8, 2009

Perhaps you are confusing superseded TM units with duplicates, Chirstel? The former are marked with a leading "xx."

If that is the case, you need to use the TM editor (Alt M), click on the Tools button and apply the "Mark redundant TUs (same source)" filter, which will be marked in the editor's window with a leading "#." Then do Ctr X to cut the units, quit the editor and reorganize.

If that does not work, try resorting the TM by clicking on one of the Editor's headings

If that does not work, try resorting the TM by clicking on one of the Editor's headings and re-apply the filter.

TM rules have no bearing on existing units, unless you modify a 100% proposed match while translating.

Daniel

and sorry for my late getting back due to heavy workload.

I had done exactly what Daniel describes but as I said, the double entries continue to stay in the memory.

I then wanted to install Olifant following the link posted by Rahi. But I'm not able to, as it claims that my computer cannot read the file .msi. Do you think it would be a good idea to download the msi installer from the Microsoft site or what else could be the problem?

Thank you again for your valuable help!
