Colour fastness to rubbing (BS 1006: 1990) This test is undertaken on a crock meter, whereby the fabric specimen is subjected to rubbing with a sample of standard undyed cotton fabric in order to check for colour transfer. Two tests are involved, one using the rubbing cloth dry, the other with the cloth wetted. The rubbing cloth is placed on the finger of the crock meter and moved back and forth across the fabric sample ten times at a steady speed. The rubbing cloth is then evaluated using standard "Grey Scales" for staining, on which "1" signifies maximum staining and "5" no staining. According to BS 2543, for all grades of end use, fabrics must show a maximum staining of "3 - 4" for dry rubbing and "3" for wet rubbing. http://www.imgcomfort.com/userfiles/Site_1/file/IMG FABRIC G... BS EN ISO 105-X12:2002 Textiles. Tests for colour fastness. Colour fastness to rubbing This International Standard, a part of the ISO 105 series, specifies a method for determining the resistance of the colour of textiles of all kinds, including textile floor coverings and other pile fabrics, to rubbing off and staining other materials. Two tests may be made, one with a dry rubbing cloth and one with a wet rubbing cloth. http://shop.bsigroup.com/ProductDetail/?pid=0000000000300848... ISO 105-F09:2009 specifies a cotton rubbing cloth which can be used for the assessment of staining in colour fastness to rubbing tests. The staining properties of the cotton rubbing cloth under test are assessed against a cotton rubbing cloth reference fabric, using a cotton dyed reference fabric, both of which are available from a specified source. http://www.iso.org/iso/iso_catalogue/catalogue_tc/catalogue_... colour fastness to water Explanation: "Colour fastness to water" seems to sum it up. "Våtfällning" has to do with the fabric bleeding when it is put in water. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day13 hrs (2011-03-16 09:51:18 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- ISO 105-E01:2010 Textiles -- Tests for colour fastness -- Part E01: Colour fastness to water ISO 105-E01:2010 specifies a method for determining the resistance of the colour of textiles of all kinds and in all forms to immersion in water.
