basic sewing techniques Explanation: I think "detaljsömnad" refers to the sewing of pockets, hems, linings, darts, buttonholes etc, and is most often referred to as "basic sewing techniques" in English. I have several books on sewing and none of them have a term that collectively groups "the sewing of details on garments" other than to call them basic sewing techniques (or basic garment sewing techniques).
