Medical director Explanation: Both in Sweden and in Britain (and no doubt other countries) senior/top managers of hospitals, clinics, etc. are no longer necessarily medics. Therefore responsibility for medical/clinical matters gets split from responsibility for overall running of the organisation. The term I suggest comes from East Kent Hospital's organogram: http://www.ekhuft.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/about-us/docu... An explanation of the situation in Sweden can be found here: http://www.sjukhuslakaren.se/vad-sager-lagen-om-det-medicins... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day3 hrs (2017-01-08 14:11:35 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Further to Chris' comment, here are a couple of pieces from the East Kent Hospitals chart: Clinical Support Services Division MT, Divisional Director Dr AG, Medical Director JB, Divisional Head of Nursing and Surgical Services Division CH, Divisional Director Mr NG, Medical Director (Mr, 'cause he's a surgeon) HM, Divisional Head of Nursing So it looks as if the term Medical Director can be used further down the tree as well. |
