disagree  Per Bergvall: Sorry Larry - have to disagree on principle. There is nothing in the phrase to suggest these implants are dental implants - except for the field information. I am sure they ARE dental - but the English term for implantat is simply implant.

  -> Per. Thanks for your courteous answer, and you are right in principle, but few people in the US or UK say they are getting implants. Instead, they make it clear that they're getting "dental implants." 1.65 mil Google hits for that phrase bear this out.

Explanation:
If context known, i.e. if you're in an orthodontic unit, just implants. If unknown and want to clarify owing to the very common use of the word for (breast) implants, say dental implants or titanium implants (I have some and they've always been referred to as 'implants' or 'titanium implants').
