sheet-metal blank Explanation: The material used is a special type of insulated sheet metal. The blanks are produced using a compound tool (substansverktyg, komplettverktyg)whereby the rivet holes and the blank are made in the same stroke of the press. A follow-on tool (följdverktyg) punches holes (usually) in one stroke and the blank in a second stroke. This does not give the accuracy normally required for this type of product. The necessary number of blanks are then riveted together in a separate operation, not in a 'följdverktyg' as implied in the questioner's text.. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2004-02-16 21:16:46 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- There is no fixed rule, but plate is usually 6 mm thick or more. |
