Spanish term or phrase: la lógica del vehículo
This appears in the technical description of a brake system for a commuter train in Spain.

First it comes up here:
El enclavamiento entre el freno electrodinámico y el freno mecánico está bajo el mando de la lógica del vehículo.

And then here:
En el bogie remolque, la BCU (Brake Control Unit) realiza el interface del freno hidráulico con la lógica del vehículo.

And then here:
La unidad de control de frenos (BCU) tiene un interface con la lógica del vehículo y el control de tracción para conseguir un funcionamiento integrado y sincronizado de los vehículos.

neutral  Billh: The industry term seems to be Logic Control, or Logic Control Unit. See references.

Also OBD or "onboard diagnostics". OBD, is an automotive term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability.

Despite all my agrees, I'd probably use Billh's "Logic Control Unit" in this particular case.

agree  Charles Davis: I think the Americans sometimes call it an "IN-vehicle computer", but "onboard" is surely standard and seems to be OK both sides of the pond.

-> Logic Control Unit best option so far IMO

agree  James A. Walsh: Yes, "onboard" is good here.

agree  Neil Ashby: I remember my dad had a Rover with a "trip computer" but it was no more advanced than a bicycle computer (dist. travlled, dist. remaining, average journey speed....etc. - no diagnostics)

Plutarch©: Microprocessor Vehicle Logic Control Unit

This unit is a microprocessor-control system with interlocked/controlled relays housed in a 19 inch rack-mounted enclosure, designed for use on Mass Transit Vehicles. The unit interfaces to speed-sensors, operator's controls and trainline signals, to provide control of the operation mode and of the activation logic of the vehicle during normal operation.

There are abundant further references to these.
