Spanish term or phrase: testigo Vs muestra
I would appreciate help with understanding the difference between 'testigos' (see A below) and muestras' with relation to sampling in mines. Is 'specimen' a good translation for 'testigo' to differentiate it from 'muestra' which I have been simply translating as 'sample'? I need two different terms since both 'muestra' and 'testigo' appear together in several places (see B) suggesting the two are different in some way.

(A) "Inspección aleatoria de testigos"
(B) "Muestras duplicadas de testigos (1 en 40)."
