Paediatricians with child protection responsibilities must evaluate cases which are subject to both child protection and criminal investigations. This evaluation requires an opinion which should be given in writing in the form of an interim medico-legal report. At a later time a second report may be required once investigations are considered complete.

Another option is 'interim medico-legal report'.

agree  James A. Walsh: Looked at this earlier and was thinking along these lines, but didn't have time to pursue it. Definitely think "interim/provisional" (with the "/") is the way to go here. Otherwise it reads strangely redundant.

Parte de espera: modificación del Parte de Estado por el que se comunica al juez que el tiempo de curación de las lesiones se ha interrumpido, aunque siga incapacitado para sus ocupaciones habituales (se está a la espera de un resultado de una prueba o una interconsulta). Cuando se emita el parte definitivo éste podrá ser de Estado si la evolución continúa o de Sanidad si se produce el alta.

Este tipo de documentos médico-legales resulta siempre difícil de traducir ya que está relacionado con un procedimiento específico de información a la autoridad judicial que no encuentra equivalencia directa en otros sistemas sanitarios. Interim/provisional report es buena solución aunque no permite diferenciar el parte de estado inicial del parte de espera (ambos interim/provisional reports). La diferencia que señala el parte de espera hace referencia a una situación especial (espera de resultados o de valoración adicional) que puede modificar lo señalado en el informe provisional previo (informe/parte de estado inicial), y diferente de los partes de adelanto, por ejemplo, que señalan otro tipo distinto de modificación de la situación del paciente (novedad relevante en el estado del paciente relativo a las lesiones señaladas previamente).
