Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Cardiology / Percutaneous coronary intervention
Spanish term or phrase: DAA
The following appears in a report on percutaneous coronary intervention, at the end of the progress section.
"Primer episodio de cardiopatia isquémica, no DM, no vasculopatía a otros niveles, no ERC, sin otros factores de riesgo para prolongar DAA más allá de lesiones coronarias importantes".
The PCI carried out earlier in the report included description of stent placement in the LAD. Cx and RCA also described as diseased.
I'm unclear on what DAA indicates in this context. Please can anyone help?
Cheers,
John

English translation:double antiplatelet therapy
Explanation:
Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) combining aspirin and a P2Y12 receptor inhibitor has been consistently shown to reduce recurrent major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for stable coronary artery disease (CAD) compared with aspirin monotherapy, but at the expense of an increased risk of major bleeding.

Despite a large volume of evidence supporting the use of dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute coronary syndrome, there remains major uncertainty regarding the optimal duration of therapy.

Sorry, it should be 'dual antiplatelet therapy'.
