Spanish term or phrase: somos de estado civil
Estoy traduciendo un documento venezolano de unión estable de hecho. No tiene un formato dado, hasta donde yo sé, sino un texto que redactaron para presentar ante una notaría:

"...le pedimos a usted se sirva recinir a los testigos que oportunamente presentaremos paar que previo cumplimiento de las formalidades legales, sean interrogados sobre lso particulares siguientes:

Primero: Si nos conocen suficientemente de vista, trato y comunicación desde hace varios años

Segundo: Si igualmente saben y les consta que desde el [fecha] residimos en unión estable de hecho de forma pública, notoria y permanente.

Tercero: Que digan ingualmente saben y les consta que tenemos nuestra residencia en [durección] desde el [fecha].

Cuarto: Si saben y les consta que **somos de estado civil** y de esta unión estable de hecho no hemos procreado hijos.

Pedimos que una vez evacuada la presente solicitud, nos sean devueltos los originales con sus resultas a la mayor brevedad. En Caracas, a la fecha de su presentación."

No se me ocurre a qué se pueda referir esta expresión.

Explanation:
Existe un formato estándar y aparentemente omitieron completar esa parte. Obviamente debe corresponder "married", pero te dejo esta sugerencia con las opciones para que conste que faltó completar.

SEGUNDO: Si por el conocimiento que de mí tienen saben y les cons­ta que nací en el de de 19 y por lo tanto soy mayor de edad de acuerdo a las leyes venezolanas y a las de mi país.

TERCERO: Si saben y les consta que soy de estado civil y no tengo hijos legítimos ni naturales.

  -> Yes, exactly. If you look at my reference you will see why. I cannot agree you more regarding 'how to put widow, but it is a status option. The format should be adequated to fit the correct status by the professional who create the document.

neutral  AllegroTrans: no such entity, despite this term being in use among the uninformed; perhaps "co-habitees" would be better//well I was thinking in BrE since asker is in Europe, and I don't think you can realistically translate a SP doc for "certain US states"

  -> I suggest you take another look at my web. ref and (re)visit the film or stage musical 'Legally Blond' alluding to certain US States where Common Law marriage is certainly recognised.
