Explanation:
I think there are two possibilities:
1. "Carta minuta" literally means "minute letter", ie a letter recording an agreement. However, we wouldn't say this in English.
2. It should say "carta, minuta".
Either way, the meaning is the same - it's a piece of paper signed by both parties and "letter" is close enough.
