quarantine Explanation: Re-posted with a higher confidence level this time, as I stand by my original suggestion. NB: "quarantine" need not necessarily refer to infectious diseases per se when used metaphorically, and in the context given, it most likely simply means "pending until a final decision/justification/certification is forthcoming ", or words to that effect. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 hrs (2020-01-01 15:13:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- See patinba's comment above. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 hrs (2020-01-01 15:15:36 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In other words the slang term "cuare" doesn't actually mean quarantine in this particular case, although that is what it is the abbreviation of. I'll be interested to see if any better suggestions come in. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 hrs (2020-01-01 15:19:39 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- NB: It could also be an abbreviation for "cuaresma", described as "un tiempo de purificación e iluminación interna", so it could also conceivably be a somewhat idiosyncratic way of referring to the period when the person in question is waiting the final decision/justification/certification, etc. Cf. "purdah"... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day 15 hrs (2020-01-02 09:59:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Pues, "Busque, compare y si encuentra algo mejor, cómprelo"... :) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day 22 hrs (2020-01-02 16:18:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Y dudo muchisimo que sea anglicismo. |
