valorisation system (ecosystem) Explanation: I wasn’t going to post an answer because I thought the discussion was clear already - but just in case it isn’t, here goes my contribution. I believe this is a reference to the so-called “valorisation/valorization system” (or ecosystem, depending on the writer), generally used in the context of waste management, but in this case referring to food by-products - similar to the food excess and by-products in Althea’s link. https://eprints.usq.edu.au/37273/ Horticultural food producers and processors typically have Food Excess and By-products (FE&Bs) generated during their operations, the value of which is underutilised. FE&Bs still often end up in landfill, improperly composted, or given away as animal feed, despite there being no shortage of technical strategies available to deal with this issue. FE&Bs are a rich source of water, bioactive compounds and fibre and could be used to produce high value nutritional and food products, as well as structural enhancements for composite material systems, including packaging […]determine the best FE&Bs processing and valorisation ‘ecosystem’ that approaches viable full circular economy by overcoming these hurdles. Other examples: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S095965261... Sustainable waste management through synergistic utilisation of commercial and domestic organic waste for efficient resource recovery and valorisation in the UK https://www.acrplus.org/en/news/news-from-our-members/2575-u... A new waste law aimed at accelerating the transition to a circular economy […]to tackle together the current critical issues of the waste collection, treatment and valorisation system, also to remain in line with the new objectives proposed by the four European directives on the circular economy. All of this is related to the idea of circular economy, and that’s why I liked Ana’s suggestion of “zero waste” ecosystem. https://www.hoacleantech.com/2019/11/19/zero-waste-operation... https://www.hoacleantech.com/2019/11/19/zero-waste-operation... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 día 4 horas (2020-09-17 13:42:26 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Crucially, ecosystem here just means "system". And the "value" created is not about promotion/enhancement, but optimal use of resources |
