agree  Robert Carter: Perhaps "compensation" rather than "remuneration" in this case.

Explanation:
My understanding is that the generator receives a set remuneration (or subsidy) for the energy generated, but if a taxation cost is reduced, as in this case, then the subsidy will have been overpaid and will have to be returned, hence the accounting provision. I am not sure this is what Adrian's answer is indicating, if it is, I apologise.
