I found this site http://www.apiciususa.com/Apicius2ExtraContents.pdf where it refers to this plant as Mesembryanthemum nodiflorum (commonly called the slenderleaf iceplant, and in this article referred to as desert seaweed) Then I found this page: http://swbiodiversity.org/seinet/taxa/index.php?taxon=2551 The plant does look similar. Slender-leaved Iceplant (Mesembryanthemum nodiflorum) Explanation: I always thought of Mesembryanthemums as South African plants, but there are two species native to Mallorca, and this is one of them.
