V ultrazvukovom obraze boli známky kolitídy v colon ascendens a vzorka stolice bola pozitívna na prítomnosť toxínu Clostridium difficile. Vzhľadom na daný nález bola začatá antibiotická terapia metronidazolom v dávke 500 mg i.v. každých 8 hodín v kombinácii s vankomycínom p.o. v režime TAPE v dávke 500 mg každých 6 hodín s postupnou detrakciou na 125 mg každých 6 hodín počas 21 dní.

Iní odporúčajú pulznú terapiu vankomycínom v dávke 125 – 500 mg, pričom pulzy sa podávajú raz za 2 – 3 dni. Pri pulznej liečbe trvá dĺžka podávania vankomycínu spravidla 3 týždne.
