Slovak term or phrase: Smerovanie (občianskeho práva v ...)
This seems pretty straightforward at first sight, yet I can't seem to come up with a neat translation for "smerovanie" in this particular context (style-wise, that is). What I'm looking for is a succinct way of expressing the concept in English, because it's actually part of a headline, so obviously I want to keep it short and simple. Any and all help gratefully received.

the way ahead
Explanation:
e.g. Civil Law in Slovakia – the Way Ahead
Just as an alternative.
i.e. how we got here and where we’re headed.
This is a typical way of styling a title, but might not fit here (not sure how yours finishes).

This is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks to everybody who chimed in. I'd prolly go with @babylondon's 'trends' (or a slight variation thereof), but Stuart's suggestion then set the bar high and was hard to beat.

agree  Pavel Slama: Neat, Stuart. (Potentially, I mean: it would fit some articles nicely.) The only issue, is “civil law” not abmiguous?
