Slovak term or phrase: ten ležal na sedačke
An example of someone's lazy behaviour.

Lying on a stool? I'm not sure whether to believe the dictionaries.

Isn't this a sofa (settee)?
As a matter of interest, what, in your opinion, is the primary meaning of "sedačka"? Is it just a general word for "seat", or is it a bit more specific?

Asker: Yes, loads of sofas! Dictionaries should catch up with this.

agree  Stuart Hoskins: I hate to bring the "class" factor into this, Dylan, but it might be settee more than sofa. If we can reflect such things when translating from other languages? (Not that I'm being snobbish - we had a settee and a lounge not sofa/living room!)

he was lying on a chair

Explanation:
Maybe I'm digging into too much detail but maybe the context could show whether there is a reason why he was lying on a chair rather than a bed or a sofa... Could it be that this guy was so lazy that he didn't even bother to go to bed or another piece of furniture :o) more appropriate for lying than a chair? Or was he a rude student who leaned back on his chair in the classroom and put his feet on the table (in which case he would be said to have lied on a chair, too)...

Anyway, that man must be really lazy :)

Asker: Well, it crossed my mind... but I would hesitate to say "lying" with reference to a chair, unless it's a recliner chair that can lean right back.

corner sofa

Explanation:
or "corner unit sofa" if you wish exactly, if in living room, if in the kitchen, would be "kuchynska sedacia suprava" - "upholstered bench unit"
"sedacia suprava" commonly called "sedačka"... no class factor
as here www.distinctivechesterfields.co.uk , or if you wish sofa is good enough.
you can lying on, if you would like to, not as "sedačka" for children in car, that would be carseat (USA), where the children are in...
