contemporary classical music Explanation: This terms exists... I hope it matches what you mean. Classical music doesn't have to refer to the 1800's and 1900's. I would choose "contemporary" over "modern" because modern often implies a specific movement, whereas contemporary just means now. I would not use "serious" because that implies that someone else's music is not serious... I found some links on modern and contemporary classical music.
