probing Explanation: Probing is a technique used in archeology to determine where to dig for the artifacts. This is most often used in CRM, when they are under a time restraint. They use probing to determine where they "need" to dig with out digging up the entire area. http://leveldiggers.blogspot.com/ Historical Archaeology at Little White Salmon Ranger Station May 13-15, 2005 Using “rediscovered” documents found at the National Archives, archaeologists relocated the site of the Little White Salmon Ranger Station in 2004. No structures remain, but a range of subsurface artifact material was identified in preliminary probing. http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/research/heritage/pit.shtml Early archeological probing had found nothing. However, one archeologist, William Kelso, believed that it was simple a matter of his predecessors having failed to use their shovels in the right place. http://cornishcrier.com/nwsltrs/cc_vol14_no1.doc -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 40 mins (2010-08-16 11:16:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- asondažna istraživanja - probing survey Archaeologists soon realized this vessel was too large to be a caravel. |
