alterations
Explanation: I dropped my pants off for some alterations, blah, blah. Turning? Pants? Ahem... I read the Russian description proffered and realized I have no clue what this is about. I mean, I know all the words, but what does it all MEAN? And mind you, I am a native speaker of Russian and old enough to remember my mother mending socks back in the old country when I was a kid. Now, imagine what your typical Brit or American, especially a younger one, will think about "turning pants"? Is it somehow related to turning tricks? Assuming this is not a technical manual on how to actually turn pants (or whichever way you describe that glorious process), I'd say spare your target audience any potential confusion and call it alterations, or whatever you call that on your side of the pond. That should fit right in for the purpose and let them proceed seamlessly (no pun intended) to whatever the punch line is here rather then get hopelessly stuck turning pants. Or tricks. Or whatever.
