Taking X = 0, we derive a new equation and add the suffix 'a'. Explanation: Putting it simply -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 mins (2016-05-31 13:55:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- For each equation, we take the specific case X = 0 and append 'a' to its number for reference purposes. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 mins (2016-05-31 13:56:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Each equation with 'a' appended to its number is the specific case of the corresponding general equation with X = 0. |

numbered ending in "a" correspond to the same numbers, but... Explanation: Here's what I would say, but I'm not a mathematician "Equations with the letter "a" at the end of their number correspond to the same numbers, but for the condition X=0." Would like to write "Equations numbered with numbers ending in 'a' correspond...", but then you would have "number" three times in the sentence. On the other hand, lovely prose is probably not the main goal, so maybe that's OK. Or, a more concise formulation, which I see is sometimes used: "Equations numbered ending in 'a' correspond..." |
