В ларёк - малюсенькую хибарку - набивалось народу, как сельдей в бочку. Несколько покупателей и десятки «зрителей», готовых, как стая коршунов ринуться на добычу. Все знали, что «своё богатство» надо крепко держать в руках. У Андрея, который изо всех сил держал в руке кошелёк, напрочь оторвали обе ***крышки*** от него!


I don't quite see what крышки refers to here. Are they part of his wallet?
